Ashgabat, July 2025 — Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held a telephone conversation on July 8, 2025, with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, as reported by Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday. The European Union has expressed its appreciation to Turkmenistan for facilitating a humanitarian corridor that allowed EU citizens to safely transit from Iran. The acknowledgment came from Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, during a phone call with Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, according to the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassy of Turkmenistan in Brussels:
The two officials discussed the ongoing development of EU–Turkmenistan relations, highlighting the success of the recent meeting between Central Asian foreign ministers and the EU High Representative, held in Ashgabat in March 2025. They also emphasized the significance of the first EU–Central Asia leaders’ summit, which took place in Samarkand in April.
In addition to diplomatic ties, the conversation covered a broad range of regional and international issues of mutual interest, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening political and diplomatic cooperation.
